Hey there!
Welcome to PaulaLeeBeauty’s Blog! My name is Paula Lee Hughes and I am Licensed Esthetician and dental hygienist, self confessed obsessive pimple popper & watcher, sister, daughter, auntie, salsa dancer(not great, but I can do it), kind, always polite(to a fault), non-confrontational pacifist, funny when you get to know me(doesn’t everybody say that?), childless, mild control freak(or as I would say I like things how I like them because it’s the best way can’t you see?), painfully single online dater(why is it so horrible?), and last but not least quilter(Oh so love and miss my grandma who taught me)! All of these came to mind as I thought how I should describe myself and I’m adding to the list.

I decided to become an Esthetician pretty far into my dental hygiene career, a little burn’t out and not my passion. As long as I can remember I have loved all things beauty related… makeup, skincare. hair, etc. A few years into my dental career I actually went to a school to try to enroll and they talked me out of it! They said, “Why would you want to do this? You already have a great job.” So I put the thought of changing careers aside.
What is my passion? Simply helping others to love and care for themselves on the outside and the inside. The outside: I love touching people(in the most non-creepy way possible, lol). I love making them feel good and look good so that they are confident in their skin. I love doing the thing we can’t do to ourself, serving others so to speak…ever tried massaging yourself…lame! The inside: I have come a long way in learning to love the skin I’m in, learning to talk kindly to myself, learning that putting some of my needs first is not selfish, and learning that what’s inside is more delicate and important than the outside(always a work in progress). I mean, our mind is where we live our whole lives, right! I want to help people appreciate their own unique beauty and love who they are as a whole. We are more than our skin, our hair, our clothes, our size, or our looks.
Just breathe…
Self-love and self-care are for everyone. They are both part of a journey, not a race with an ending, and always need our attention. Holistic means, addressing the whole of something because you believe they are interconnected and can’t be separated. What’s on the inside shines through to the outside! My GOAL: Use a holistic approach to skincare so we can love all of ourselves, unapologetically!
So welcome to my blog! I hope to share my thoughts, and provide resources/tools to help your face and soul to glow. Are you ready for a GLOW-UP?
